"Thanksgiving at Plymouth"
Artist: Jennie Augusta Brownscombe (American, 1850-1936)
Description: A 1925 recreation of Brownscombe's earlier 1914 painting of the First Thanksgiving at Plymouth, significant in that it omits the Plains Indian headdresses that were criticized as non-historically accurate in her 1914 version.
Date: 1925
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Dimensions: 30 x 39 1/8 in.
Credit Line: Gift of Wallace and Wilhelmina Holladay
Collection: National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington D.C. USA
Jennie Augusta Brownscombe’s paintings of scenes from Colonial American history appealed to her contemporaries, who sought nostalgic escape from the increasing urbanization, industrialization, and immigration around them.

Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado USA, I'm a nature and landscape photographer primarily focused on the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Working in both color and black and white, I use a variety of photographic techniques to capture the many moods of mountain landscapes, from intimate perspectives to grand vistas, in locations both iconic and seldom-visited. My goal is to produce images with vivid colors, high dynamic range, and compelling compositions. Longer lens focal lengths are preferred to bring the viewer closer into the scene, requiring every available pixel to help tell the story. Thank you for visiting the site. I hope you enjoy my work.
