Description
I found this beautiful lady in the pine-scented mountains of Estes Park, Colorado one day, right outside Rocky Mountain National Park, on a beautiful spring morning. Her mate, equally photogenic, majestic, and every bit her equal, was not far away but in an area which made photography difficult. At the time she seemed satisfied that I was far enough away with my telephoto lens, and lay undisturbed for some fifteen minutes after I left.
But somehow I can't help but think my presence was intrusive no matter how discreet or distant I was. These animals are so astoundingly regal and beguiling that it's difficult for me to train any camera lens on them, or to look at them through a viewfinder as if at a target. In quick succession, I made but two photographs of her that day. I don't need them now, for I will remember her always.
