Description
On a high mountain pass road through a forest's near perfect silence, these aspens of fall are singing their song.
Aspen is one of Colorado's extensive forest types, covering 5 million acres or 21 percent of the state's forested land. The aspen is Colorado's only widespread, native, deciduous tree and can be found from 6,900 to 10,500 feet in elevation, particularly on the West Slope. (Source: Colorado State Forest Service at CSU)
