Artist's Description
"The Orion Nebula #3"
This beautiful image is a composite mosaic of many separate exposures made by the ACS and WFC3 instruments on the Hubble Space Telescope using several different filters isolating the light of specific elements or of specific broad wavelength ranges. The color arises by assigning different hues (colors), to each monochromatic image. In this case, the colors are:
Blue: F435W (B)
Cyan: F555W (V)
Yellow: F775W (i)
Red: F139M
The distance to the Orion Nebula is 1,500 light-years (460 parsecs).
The image is 7.9 arcminutes (3.4 light-years or 1.1 parsecs) wide.

About Eric Glaser
Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado USA, I'm a nature and landscape photographer primarily focused on the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Working in both color and black and white, I use a variety of photographic techniques to capture the many moods of mountain landscapes, from intimate perspectives to grand vistas, in locations both iconic and seldom-visited. My goal is to produce images with vivid colors, high dynamic range, and compelling compositions. Longer lens focal lengths are preferred to bring the viewer closer into the scene, requiring every available pixel to help tell the story. Thank you for visiting the site. I hope you enjoy my work.
